Tryout Policies - Out of State and Player Transfer

CHC:

OUT OF STATE RESIDENTS:

Effective with the 2017-18 season, CHC adopted the USA Hockey Rule regarding non-resident players. copy of the USA Hockey rule is attached to this document.

"A sanctioned USA Hockey Member Program, as determined by the applicable Affiliate (CHC), must register all of its teams in the USA Hockey Affiliate in which the greatest percentage of the Member Program’s players reside (as defined below). In addition, unless approved by the applicable Affiliates, all Teams registered within a Member Program must have the greatest percentage of team members that reside in the Affiliate where the Member Program is registered and shall comply with all applicable Affiliate Rules regarding Team Registration."

Simply put, as an example, if a CHC member program, or Independent team registering through CHC, 7 players can be from CT, 5 players from Massachusetts, 5 players from New York, and 3 players from New Jersey and the team is eligible to play in CHC, as the greatest percentage of players reside in CT. If the number of players from any other single state exceeds the number of CT resident players, then the team is ineligible to complete in CHC.

The following players for the purpose of eligibility, are to be considered as CT residents per CHC and USA Hockey rules:

• Non-resident players who are full time boarding students at a Connecticut prep school.

RAHA Transfer / Release policy

A Release (Transfer) Rule applies to new players. RAHA will accept a maximum of two releases per team.

To be placed on the top team, a release must qualify as an "impact" player. An impact player is considered to be among the top two lines at a given age level.

The Board reserves the right to adjust this Release Policy as necessary where there exists a shortage of players, the competitiveness of a team is in question, or in the case of a former RAHA player returning from a Tier I team. Subsequent transfer proposals adopted by the Connecticut Hockey Conference may supersede RAHA's policy.
